Direzza Z1 SS, Nitto NT05, etc, will all get greasy before the end of a
decent run, they just aren't meant for the heat (they were designed for
Street Touring autocross, which isn't going to heat things up like track
runs). The Proxes RA1's , Hoosier R6s ($$$$), the USDM Yokohama DOT-R's
(either one) are all designed more for track life rather than ultimate grip.
I'd go for the best priced model of those, unless you can find some of those
occasional blow-out DOT-R deals that show up on occasion in the classifieds
of GRM and SCCA's Sports Car. FWIW, 2 seasons ago, I got my Hankook Z214 C71
(more of an autocross compound, you'd want a lower C#) in a 225/47-17 for
under $100 a pop that way. I often see DOT-R Goodyears used just for
qualifying laps for sale at pretty decent discounts.
