[s-cars] Sumitomo HTR ZIII

I've been considering the HTR ZIII's, too, but unlike a number of others, I
had LOUSY results from the HTR ZII's, with problems balancing two sets and
eventually just going with Pilot Sport A/S's.  One bad set would have been
just an anomaly, but after two, I have been soured on them.

I put the Exclaim's on the GTI when I got fed up with the noise from the OE
Bridgestones.  They were freaky at the start.  You could go into a four
wheel slide cornering at 25 mph.  Apparently, mold release compound that
hadn't been removed.  After 30 miles, they were okay and have been pretty
good, but as mentioned, soft sidewalls, which don't translate into sharp
turn-in. An above average tire that did slightly diminish the GTI's
twitchiness.

BTDT with the Exclaims. I read the TR reviews. How can you go wrong -
especially for the price?  I will explain.

The big box store manager didn't even want to order them, he was sure
I wouldn't like them. Ok thanks for the warning. Now just order 'em
and match tire rack's price, thank you very much.

A few days later they were on the car. I knew I was in trouble within
the first 200 feet.

They squirmed bad. I drove over sand and did a few 60-30 ABS stops to
get the shine off the contact patch. Then I drove back to the store
and took my lumps. It was an expensive mistake.
