Not doubting your ear Jeff but...I would check the plugs for snugness.

Subject: [s-cars] I have 'one' noisy lifter on a rebuilt AAN head..
question?

So I went through this mother of all S$ projects, (1) piece of which was
R&R the AAN head with a new rebuild by a famous shop here in NH.

Now running (stronger than before Yippee) I have one stinking lifter
clicking away. I am resaonable sure because
I can listen to it with a stethescope and isolate it to the area in
question.

Can I prove a collapsed lifter by:
1: Removing the valve cover, and rotating the engine checking the gap
(feeler gauge) between the offending cam lobe-lifter interface and adjacent
quiet ones.
2: Can I remove that one cam and pluck out the lifter, and install a new
lifter with the hope of quieting this down?

Since I didn't rebuild the head, I need somebody like Dave Dawson to
explain.

Yes, I'll go back to my builder for a listen tomorrow.. see what he says.
I just can't bear to drive it with that freakin racket going on.

Thanks Jeff Posto
