 Weird... I've done this testing dozens of times and never had that problem.  I routinely test at 10 psi... and I never block the crankcase.  My compressor has a 60 gallon tank, however.

Even if you block off the crankcase breather, you will not be able to
obtain 15psi because the MAF to turbo hose will start to expand.
I'm guessing it will eventually burst as it is not meant to hold
pressure.
I recently attempted to pressure test my 20V urq this way and the MAF to
turbo hose expanded to about 6" before I cut the air.
