Fully agree Suburbans and other huge SUV's being 'safe' is a mixed bag at
best and for simpleton's as far as I'm concerned.
There was just a perfect example - if you caught the Tom Brokaw accident
last week in NYC some idiot blasting down the highway in a megasize SUV
(Escalade or Suburban or something, not sure exactly but it was in the
photos) had to jam on the brakes and swerve to react to another vehicle and
naturally as physics would expect the thing flipped on it's side and threw
her out the window (not wearing seatbelt - Darwin always wins), off of the
elevated highway she was driving on and down onto the pavement far far
below. Now I'm sure same said idiot would have probably still caused an
accident in an MB or similar but she'd have had a million times more chances
of stopping and of not rolling over in a solid road car rather than the
retarded elephant she was driving. Bring on the MB's, Volvos, and for that
matter, full-size Audis.
Interesting to see so much love for the W124 around here... too bad I can't
afford the gas for a 500E 4-matic...
Oh and Phil, thanks for "cattywhompus". I have no idea what it means but
I'm going to randomly sprinkle it into conversation 4 or 5 times today and
see what happens.
