[s-cars] Teen car

I started driving in 1985 on an '82 MBZ 300D non-turbo 4-speed manual (grey mkt) and I will say that I fully believe it forced me to be MUCH more aware of what I was doing on the road. The car was barely respectible with the 4-speed not having a turbo, and being in the wrong gear meant certain tragedy....if for no reason other than being embarrassed in front of my date when the car would barely move.

Regarding teen cars, they need a certain amount of power to be able to 
get out of trouble. Merging onto a highway in a slow car when everyone 
is busting 80 mph is no treat for a young driver. That being said, folks 
are pretty dumb to buy high performance cars for young drivers.

Taka, I disagree with the manual for teen concept, though I agree it 
would 'help' to keep them occupied.  Young drivers have enough to focus 
on besides wondering if they've chosen the right gear to accelerate out 
of the way of the Escalade they wrongly pulled into the path of...
