Hi Guys,

Timely comments and good advice from all, my 17 yr. old daughter had a
fender bender last Friday in her civic, 2 weeks into our first snowfall.
Roads are currently like a curling rink (okay, I'm Canadian) and she applied
a bit too much brake approaching an intersection and the car swerved into a
parked van before she could steer out. Just not enough experience on really
tricky roads in the city. She learned to drive on an automatic with some
manual but her civic is a manual and she loves it .. Now she does, but we
had a few tears learning to drive. Saskatchewan has strict conditions for
new drivers regarding passengers (one only passenger while on probation),
zero tolerance for many tickets. This little bender will likely extend her
probation period another 6 months. Our province will introduce cell phone
use legislation next month, so handsfree only. She is very good about not
using her phone but it will be enticing as she gains experience. Prior to
the accident, I wanted to take her out and do some skidding and handling on
the snow and ice, but we never got to it. so if you are planning to do that,
don't wait like me!

She will be driving the 96 S6 while her car is in the shop, so this will be
interesting.

Season's greetings,

Randy
