My two daughters who are now 35 and 39 years old both learned to drive on manual transmission cars. As an Instructor/Check pilot for UAL and the USAF I devised a syllabus of instruction to lead us through all phases of the driving experience. Their respective cars were a BMW 2002, when we still lived in California, for the older girl and 2 Audi 4000 CSs for the younger girl. The younger daughter took 2 4000s because she totaled the first one in a t-bone crash at an intersection. Not a scratch on her. Since her birthday is actually today I wouldn't let her get her license until all the snow had fallen in Evahboost the following Spring and no passengers for her first year. My current Wintah Beatah is a B5 A4 1.8tqm. Either the 2.8 or the 1.8 in Quattro would make a great car for a kid. Tons of 2nd hand parts and mods.
