Doug-
I "talked" to Scott Justusson at length about suspension stuff when I had my
'91 200q. The basic gist of it was to get as big of a front sway as possible
on the car, that it would help tremendously with the handling of the car.
I found out that 32-34mm would be about right for the car- now the problem
is that because of the setup on Audis, you can't just swap out the sway bar-
as it is a crucial part of the suspension, no one makes an aftermarket one
due to liability. You would either have to find a cooperative fabricator or
you need to do what the Mk IV Golf people do- double swaybars (IIRC, you
can't remove the front swaybar in the Golf because of the way the stuff is
assembled.).
Nothing is available off the shelf. There was an Abt part that was 28mm or
so, but long out of production.
If you want to get a better explanation of how the big front swaybar works,
Larry would be the person to ask- he is very knowledgeable about suspension
geometry and the like. I think he's pissed at me because of the crash
protection debate.
