Matt-
The AAN is 70-80lbs heavier than a 4.2 v8 motor.
AAN is cast iron block.....V8 is all alu.
With your type of commute, all oem or 92+Bils HD like you said is prolly your best long-term bet.

Ah, Bill- I love to be a guinea pig... But swapping struts and shocks
is a PIA.
Which I why i seek info and still second guess myself. 8-)
Thanks for the input. While I was searching the web for a good price
on the Konis last night, I found lots of options for Sach/boges and
bilstein. Almost went with a "stock" replacement but did not have any
feedback until today about that option. I would have liked to match
the s6+ springs with whatever Audi used in Europe just to see what
that was like even though I imagine the v8 weighs a lot more than the
aan. The cost was considerably less. Konis are 700 bucks now vs oem
for 4-500 or so.
The archives here and on QW gave me some info but I feel I'm in the
minority as far as what I want (comfort first). My new-to-me 110 mile
daily commute has caused me to re-evaluate.
The 92 sedan I owned before was perfect with Bilstein HD and 92
springs. Hopefully the konis will be good.
Btw wrt guinea pig: wasn't it you who wanted someone to try those
avant hatch struts off eBay? Yeah I jumped. Been fine for several
months now.
