In NY, you can now actually get a violation (I don't recall what kind)
ticket for failure to clear your car, particularly if you are implicated in
an accident. I don't know of anyone whom has been charged, but the law is
out there (it was enacted within the last 5 years). As I can't particularly
stand snow on my roof, (sometimes, if it's sunny, I actually will still use
the sunroof) my roof is clear anyway.
