yes, as mentioned, this is very common. Done literally hunderds in the
shop. One customer's A4 had a small pigtail plugged into the #1 coil,
with a ground wire coming out of it that wnet onto the head. Not sure
what that was about. Anyhow, his car got four new ones, then two of
them failed within the next 3 months. That was a year ago, no problems
since.
Oh, these are the push in coil packs. The bolt-in ones have a much
lower failure rate. They were on the earlier cars. The push-on ones
are "progress" I guess. Makes me love the 4kq more and more each day
;-)
On a side note, I had a guy from Belgum comment on my car at the DMV
yesterday when I came out from getting my CDL. He was asking if it was
a 5-cylinder and said he hadn't seen one on the road in years.
