After sitting for over 2 years, the ole machine is back on the road.? Driving it for the first time in several years reminded me of why I love the car... a nice level of refinement but a lot of excitement when you tell it to go.? I'm certain she's faster than my "Stage 3" 01 S4.
I've only got about 150 miles on it since putting it back together.? Gotta wait for the rings to seat, and then I'll prolly take it back to the dyno to see where it stands.
One notable change was the addition of a phenolic spacer on the IM.? Seems very worthwhile.? My IM used to get too hot to touch for more than a few seconds.? It now is literally cold.? Must be worth a few ponies.? If you're ever pulling your head, I think this is a must have addition.? The minor change in IM location impacts nothing except where the dipstick tube mounts to the IM.? You have to notch out the bolt hole, otherwise the tube will not fully press into the block.? $68 well spent from 034, IMO.
Oh yeah... original cam pulley/bolt and crank pulley/bolt all fine and reinstalled... for probably the 5th time while in my hands.? Can't say I'm surprised.
Anyway... nice to have her running again.
Dave
