[s-cars] Wheel offset question

You can't go by the offset to determine wheel clearance.

If you're worried about radial clearance, I'd doubt that any rotor setup
that uses Boxster brakes will be so big that it won't fit under an 18"
wheel, but for axial clearance, it really depends on the spoke design and
the offset of the rotor hat.

Example- I had some AZEV Type A wheels, 17x8 with ET32 offset- no problems
at all with brake clearance, even with larger 996 calipers over a 320x30
rotor. The counterexample was a set of Momo wheels, 17x8 with ET35 offset-
no way that the brakes were going to clear unless I used at least a 15-20mm
spacer. It was all in how the spokes were designed that determined
clearance. I think that is why the Audi Avus wheels have so much brake
clearance- they're designed to fit over those bulky HP-2 calipers.
