[s-cars] MKIII GTI VR6?

Hi gents:

 

I may be scoring a MKIII GTI VR6 on the cheap from a buddy.  I am expecting
something like $1K.  Last time I saw it, it was in fine shape.  I have
driven it plenty of times and it sure is a hoot.  I can't seem to find much
on the web re: things to look out for, what to expect to replace, etc.  IIRC
it has like 80K miles.

 

Any insights would be appreciated.
