Help.

I've read the write up and I'm reading the manual. I'm at a point where I've
got the heater box loose on the top side but am having problems getting the
center consoles out.

The Bentley Manual (but not AudWorld.com) gets confusing about whether/not I
need to remove the center console. The manual implies (fuzzily) that the
center console removal is needed for the manual controlled systems.

1) Do I have to continue removing the center console?

1a) What's the secret to removing the emergency brake's plastic grip?

I don't think I can do this job from the top only...but I'm hoping.
