Thanks to Jamie and Robert.
I got the heater core out. Broke one tab which I'm gluing back as I write.
The plastic handle on the brake lever came off easily once the plastic pin
on the bottom was removed (not pushed!). A quick look with a mirror solved
it. The leather boot just slides off with the console
The rear center console with phone speaker, seat heater switches, cigarette
lighter, differential lock... came out after lots of studying the Bentley
and finding the hidden screws for the speaker and rear vent assembly.
The front center console got moved back a bit with everything except the
radio still connected. With the radio and vents removed I got a view of the
electrical plugs I was stretching. I used a face-up position; full recline
on the seat to get a look under the dash at the vents.
In case anybody needs to know: 4 plastic vents (2 up, 2 sideways), 1 pleated
rubber boot (straight back), 2 electrical connections and the bottom of the
heater box is free!! The top is self explanatory.
Now I have some parts to order besides the heater core, fan and hoses I have
ready: I broke the coolant bleed valve's bleed screw. What a handy place to
hide it. I never knew I had one!
Next weekend I'll have her all together again. YES!
Thanks to the S-car list and all the mechanics on-line I still love owning
this car. It's a bit of work but when it's running I always feel it was
worth it.
