[s-cars] alignment Q

Well, not to be outdone - the car I helped prepare, that finished 2nd
in a really big group of cars, had one thing going for it that hasn't
been mentioned. Since the wheels and axles were specifically not to be
modified under our rules, I put graphite lubricant generously on the
axles, and, using a belt sander (yes, a real belt sander), ran the
car on the belt with a significant downforce from my hand to try to
condition the graphite flakes to a very aligned, very worn-in surface.
Obviously, I was also avoiding any scrubbing of the wheels while on
the belt, and a belt with no sand on the surface would have been a
better idea. The rest of the car was not spectacular, but the weight
was right on the maximum, which, as has already been mentioned, is
very important.
YMMV
