[s-cars] Radio Code for Concert I - really necessary, or overrated?

What's your thinking, Randy? -- that you only get one hour free, then
you have to pay
with a code? : > ) I have heard of this before, but the memory light
is too dim. There
is also some problem with the volume pot containing a flash memory
chip that will fill
up so you have to adjust volume at every power up -- an A4 concert
radio forum,
maybe?

I bought new and it operates without the code even though there is a
code # on the
tags. My understanding is that after powering up for the first time,
installing the code
with that FM2--RDS procedure will subsequently require the code. If
it is never put in,
the radio is not code protected. Initiating the procedure, it starts
at 1000, so that code
is inadvertently installed on many radios if you quit the code install
at that point. IOW,
don't play with those two buttons unless you want to install a code.

You didn't use Mac-Phat by chance?

Tom
