Pull that coil and plug in one of your spare spark plugs... ground the plug body and turn the engine over and watch for spark.? That would be the fastest way to determine of your issue is really ignition related.
Sounds like you might have an injector problem.

Subject: [s-cars] Miss Piggy's Miss. :-(
Hi Y'all,
Several days ago Miss Piggy ('95.5 S6 w/ RS2 mods and the 1.8t coil
mod, etc) dropped a cylinder just before I got home with her. Well,
at the time the temperature was about 4 degrees F and I decided
looking at her could wait a few days. Today we're having a heat wave
(all the way up to 43 F) so it seemed a good day to examine her.
Found the miss quickly enough. Disconnected injectors one at a time
and found that the idle got no worse when #3 was disconnected. OK, I
got into my Rosattobin and retrieved my standby 1.8t coil and swapped
it into #3. Problem solved - right? No wrong. Hmmm... The #3 plug
looked a bit doubtful so it's back to the Rosattobin for a set of
plugs. Changed plugs all around. No help.
Hmmm... Let's check compression. 150, 150, 145, 150, 125 front to
back. #5 looks weak but that's not where the miss is. OK, let's
stick in a fresh ECU w/ freshly burnt chips. No change. Checked for
B+ power at the white plugs on the firewall. DMM sez all is OK w/
nominal 12 volts everywhere. Reconnected white plugs. No change.
Suggestions?
Bob
