Tony,
Check to see if any bolts have backed out on the exhaust manifold and/
or wastegate. I seem to have this repeating issue where one or more
of these bolts backs out. On could start up I get a gas odor in the
cabin. I've popped the hood and watched a few times as area's nearby
these loose bolts have gotten wet with unburned fuel. These area's
quickly dry up and the odor goes away as the heat causes the metal to
expand and closes the small gaps that were there when cold.
I'd also strongly suggest checking the crimped connections on the
fuel lines that are near the fuel rail. I've had those leak too.
There is a barb on the hardline beneath that could accept some hose
clamps.
Regards,

Was passing a gas station when I first noticed the smell but then it
didn't
go away.
No obvious signs of leak. Any primary suspect areas? Looks OK around
filter
but that is where the smell is strongest. Unfortunately the lower
parts are
wet from road spray so will have to wait till morning to take a
closer look.
Appreciate any insight.
