[s-cars] Gas smell in cabin - where to look?

Tony,

Since the issue won't go away, even if the smell did, I will get
serious now.
The emissions piping collects fuel in the carbon canister for later
return to
the fuel system. A small plastic valve behind the intake filter box
has come
apart on some vehicles allowing fumes to enter the engine bay and then
cabin. This can be a very mysterious source to locate and since not
active
all the time doesn't emit fumes constantly.

It is just under the fender lip in front of the fuel filter. I would
worry about the
sources that could cause immediate problems first, but this is a place
to look
when the search is negative elsewhere. I just repaired mine with
super-glue
after pricing the replacement.
