Jason:
I live in the Tundra of NH , and have a lot of experience debugging my dorr
latches, of course in the middle of winter! when they seem to break.

1- There is a cable that connects interior door handle to the door latch
mechanism.
2- There is a rod that connect the exterior door handle to the door latch
mechanism.

I've had 1- get disconnected at the door latch by manual use in cold
weather. The 'hook' on the cable end falls out of the door latch, because
there is no means of retention.  Can send you a photo of how I fixed it  {
drilling a
peep hole in the door, near the door latch and fixing a tie wrap to hold the
cable in place. )
both doors.. on my (sold) S6 and my current Red S4.

AS far as the exterior handle, I can guess the rod became detached and YES
you have to disassemble your door.
Best thing is to remove the window frame carrier, because you can't access
the area otherwise.

Sean,
Was checking out your thread cuz today mine did almost the same thing
- yeah it was really cold out:

Outside handle goes up then sticks up, I push it down and realize it
no longer opens door, I open rear door and reach up front and open
front door from the inside, door opens and closes as it should. But
now my outside handle does't work.

Think you could help me decipher based on what you just went through?
Did you figure out your central locking problems? Did you have to
fully remove the window frame carrier?
TIA,
Jason
