The Meyle/JL Germany coolant reservoirs get a solid DO NOT BUY
recommendation
here, which mirrors the Pelican Parts quality rating of POOR. Kind of
interesting for a
part they sell. : > ) Even at the $32.75 price with free shipping it
is not a good buy.
Life expectancy is about a year before the almost invisible cracks
start to seep under
pressure. Buy this part and the cheap pressure relief cap to
guarantee continued
cooling system problems while you deny that the problem is the tank
because it is new.
: > ) If you surmise that I have BTDT, you are correct, and it was
not a single, isolated
event, but a statistically significant number.
I recommend a new Audi cap even at its elevated price since it
contains the pressure
relief valve for the cooling system.
It bears repeating that you will probably get the best deal on genuine
Audi parts at:
http://www.genuinevwaudiparts.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=214407
It is generally best to search the catalog by part #, but you may get
by with the listing
for this part. This gives you a target price if you want to negotiate
with the local dealer
that will offer some discount. Be sure to compare delivered prices.
