Not to be left out of electric fun, basically the same thing happened  
to me this very night on the way home.  I was trying to forget it for  
tonight... but no, Bob had to remind me =O
I had just installed a new harness for the neu S4 coils and it seemed  
to be running perfect when on the way home (@+11F temp) it starts just  
dying.  Electrical death.  Coast.  Push in clutch.  Let out clutch.   
Starts to run again.  Exactly the same as a couple of weeks ago but  
with a different harness.
This time I had allen wrench and old coil set in the boot and yes you  
can swap in new coils in the cold and dark in 10 minutes or less.  D'oh!
Anyway, other than youth and beauty, what do Bob and I have in common  
here.... if in fact it is the same malady?  We are both chipped... but  
different flavors. But must be something else upstream of the coils.   
My stock coils run perfectly.
Could weak coils play havoc with ecu or chips?  Could it be worth a  
look at the ecu for possible cold solder joints or something?  But why  
would the stock coil set run okay then?
I just dunno.
I'll give it some thought and report back.
