[s-cars] 2004 A4, Avant, 1.8T, 6spd; insights?

Jeff,
I think you missed his point. He owns an UrS, but is looking at a B6 A4 Avant 1.8T 6-speed and wants experiences. 
I can only address our 1.8T Avant experience from a B5 standpoint, and it was a Tippy, but I LOVED that car. The B6 is that much better in terms of chassis rigidity, is just slightly larger, and is every bit the car you probably want it to be. We had NO sludging issues in our engine, bought at 9K miles, and sold at 110K. I had to rebuild the top end due to a tensioner failure at 87K miles, and the engine was CLEAN. 
If it's immaculate and has records, and priced right, I'd go for it, especially in Dolphin Grey.

 he owned that vintage S car for a while.. it's burly quick and a blast to
drive.. although the prominent memory I have of why he sold it was, gas
consumption.
He was commuting from Kittery ME to Boston and averaging something like 13
mpg..

Write to me off list and I'll give you Jim's email.  I guess it's nearly
impossible to keep your foot outta that V8 !! Ha Ha..
