Hi Dave, as I understand it, the shell with engine will have to be
crushed, VIN# turned in as destroyed(it's been tracked since trade in).
The dealer will sell the Clunker to an auto recycler. The dealer will
want to maximise his profit, the yard will want to minimize it's
investment. Back to free market economics again. The yard will be
allowed to removed and sell subassembly parts from the shell. I haven't
heard of a timeframe on the part of the recycler yet.
Yes, you could theoretically swap whatever you wanted to onto the
Clunker, but it must still be running and driving for trade in(ie:
legally on the road).
