I guess that makes sense. No worries. The dealer had indicated it was going to be free of charge at the time I made the appointment however I now assume that person being the part counter guy was misinformed.

I know at one point Audi was doing this free of charge but I think that ended a few years back. Not trying to be an ass or point out the obvious, but that probably would have been a point of clarification to make prior to having the work done. I don't have a solution to offer, but you might want to put on your "negotiating tie".
Best of luck.

So, I dropped the S6
off at the dealership to have the LATCH child seat system retrofit installed on
the car and not until the next day did they indicate that this installation was not
covered under any warranty or recall campaign and that the cost of the retrofit
was the responsibility of the owner to the tune of $900+ (evidently the parts
alone are around $450) although they had indicated otherwise previously.
For those of you who
have had this done what was your experience. I thought I had read that people
had this done free of charge.
I'm trying to get
this resolved by the end of the day otherwise before I pickup the car
again.
