You guys are all making too much sense.
Give a guy $4500 towards buying a new car that the buyer can't afford.? Good stuff.? Makes no sense.
"Green?"? Yeah, I see that everyday in my work too.? "Green" fleets, and the promotion of hybrid vehicles.? The Prius is the biggest joke I've ever seen.? It is probably the most non-green thing on the road.? But the percetion of green is all that matters to our politicians.? Why bother to go out and do a study on how devastating the creation and disposal of a hybrid is to our environment?? All I care about is emissions and fuel mileage.
I do wonder when our government will start making sense.? It seems to have taken a major turn for the worse as of late.
Economics... I wonder if Obama has ever heard of the Laffer Curve?

I also like how the energy used and pollution created from making that
new car is not considered.
I am in the commercial door hardware industry and a measure of how
"green" our product is is how long it will last. While our product does
not produce emissions I think there is has to be some consideration for
keeping a car on the road longer. After all, it has to pass emissions
testing and it is fuel injected.
No metal has to be melted, formed or cast and no plastic has to be
melted, blown or molded to keep my car on the road. And a good portion
of a dead car cannot be recycled and will end up in a land fill
somewhere.
Another point - if someone is driving a $1000 pos and wants to take
advantage of the $4500 trade in, they have to buy a new car. How many
people that drive $1000 cars can afford a new car? No problem just get
a loan (although it is much harder today) and default on it. We'll bail
you out of that too...
Kase
