Jerry,

As long as the pull-out OEM chip is not damaged and the pins are 
pretty clean and more or less free of solder residue then putting it 
back into a socketed ECU is no problem.  What may be a small problem 
is that chip upgrades usually include a three bar pressure transducer 
change from the OEM 2.5 bar PT.  That must also be reversed.  No big 
deal if you have or can get one of the 2.5 bar PTs.  They are readily available
