[s-cars] Crank gear key

I concur, that is a tidbit I did not know about. It would have saved me
some hassle when I did my t-belt as I have a 2084 but had to borrow the
3256.

Librarian? Wanna throw that in the card catalog?

That's good to know, Peter. I have the 3256, so it's a moot point for
me, but one thing I never liked about it was that it isn't very well
supported the way it mounts to the block and it's easy to bend the
captured bolt on it when you try to loosen the crank bolt. So, I made a
support for it out of a block of wood that jam between the crank lock
and the support beam below the radiator. I see in the SJM link you sent
that somebody else was thinking along the same lines and used the rack
from a jack stand.

I have the 2084 as well so I may keep a look out for a 7A snub mount to
give me the option.

Coincidently enough, my whole timing belt tool kit (3256 crank lock; 40"
long 3/4" drive breaker bar, 400 lb-ft 3/4" dr torque wrench, crank seal
removal and installation tools, etc.) just left my house not 5 minutes
ago to head up to Mike Platt's place in NH. Mike and his son just drove
up from Baltimore today where they picked up a '93 for dirt cheap.
