No doubt Steve, and he's going to fix it, I just want to know if a week or two is going to make a difference driving it. He's a good friend and he only charged me $150 labor, which is great if no other headaches come of it.

Wylie...
I'm assuming you paid for the mechanics services, correct? If so, it
should be his responsibility to make it right and do the job over at no
additional cost. Who provided the parts should not be a factor in
whether the right part gets installed in the right place.
I think wondering how long you have before the crank is grooved is the
wrong way to look at the situation.
Just my $0.02

Certified factory trained Audi master technician of 25 years. I bought
both, we agree that the cam seal is easy and he'll just do the crank
seal while doing the tb. He tells me yesterday he forgot to do the
coolant T and I blow it off thinking that's not hard to do myself. Then
today I'm going through the trunk and find the thermostat and the seal,
only it's not the cam seal, it's the crank seal! He put the cam seal on
the cranshaft, and said it went on without a problem. I labeled them
based on PN and he described them to me over the phone.. He just grabbed
the wrong one I guess. What's the consensus on how long this will last
before leaking???
