Get torch.  Further suggestions are worthless if you are going to  
ignore this one.  You
can get the torch while you are waiting 24 hours for the PB blaster to  
soak in.

Then use proper tools.  You never know when you will need to use this  
fitting again,
and wouldn't it be nice if it were in good condition.

Follow the Kranz's suggestion if you like, Just screw it up at the  
beginning since you
are going to anyway.  The problem with that is the "almost every time"  
and the
consequences of screwing up the hard line.

Why do you start these jobs when half-prepared?  : > )
