Do you mean there's no "springyness" in the button, or in the trunk.  I got from your original post it was the button, and if so, you may consider taking it apart, but the alternative is to replace that lock mechanism. You can out your old tumblers in there so as not to have different keys.

The trunk's "lift struts" are worn out and need to be replaced.
They provide the pressure to push up on the trunk, making it easier to open.

I recently discovered that my trunk can only be opened if I maintain
pressure on the button and lift at the same time, there is no longer any
"springyness" to the release mechanism.  Is there any way to restore
that
bounce so that I can operate my trunk with one hand again? At first I
thought my trunk had frozen shut, but then it did the same thing on a 65
degree day which is when I figured it out.  Your suggestions are welcome! 

My second issue is that I know it is about time to replace my e-brake
cables, and I was wondering about how long that will take and how much of a
pain it is to accomplish this.  Oh yeah, and what is a good source for
these?
