[s-cars] exhausts

Look, I'm as cheap as they come, but at this point in my life I just don't
have time to screw around with partial solutions. Yeah, I sprung for the
Dave Stone/PMW coilover kit - I put it on and it's just magic - fully sorted
and well worth the money; no more agonizing over what magic combination of
OEM & aftermarket stuff might work. I just drive it and tweak it when the
mood strikes.

And I did pony up HiPo coil kit from 034 because I was sick of the damn POS
problems; I put it on and haven't thought much about it since. It just
works. There are other solutions now which also work, which also cost
money.

As far as the Stromung is concerned, it is a most proper solution. As a
music-dabbler I've been known to spend a few bucks on nice instruments and
sound gear, and the Stromung is great sound. True, I did once press Posto
for dyno numbers, but now I realize that it really doesn't matter - it
sounds so freakin' good! The only downside (once you pay the man) is my
fuel economy took a hit because I just love screwing my foot down all the
time...

There are a lot of ways up this mountain/down this slippery slope, but
sometimes you do get what you pay for.

Jeff,

Clown? I think spending $1700 on an exhaust for a $5000 car would make me a
clown. JC was right, I just asked about how Stromungs were obtained. I
remember seeing posts about gathering orders for the system leading me to
believe that they were not available all the time. Excuse me for inquiring.

But since you opened the dialogue, $1700 is just plain too much. It is an
old Audi, not a Ferrari. So what if its better than a Borla, Brullen or
whatever. The differences are minor and I could care less. My car is a dd
and I (as some other folks here) will not realize the minor (if any)
performance gains over another aftermarket exhaust.

So I don't see the value in your holier than God exhaust system, BFD. I did
not put it down in any way (until now - cost).
