[s-cars] Stromung Exhaust Install Tips

That crossmember secondary purpose is chassis stiffening
. It’s primary
purpose is to prevent the driveshaft from becoming a people-skewer if it
falls the ground and jambs on something that doesn’t move. That
clearance over the crossmember is really tight, and production
tolerances of the Stromung exhaust jig vs Audis own, can make that a
tricky fitment. The pipe really should be ovalled there, which I’ve had
done (my exhaust guy used a 4in mandrel to bend a 3in pipe = oval 3in).
I’m still convinced most of the fitment problems are motor mount
related. I’ve also used ¼in washers to raise up the exhaust a bit
higher for the really torquey S cars. IME k24 Stage II and III cars are
the most sensitive to Stromung fitment issues.

Scott,

The guy that installed my Stromung did not reinstall the center
crossmember. I cannot remember why, but I'm sure it was a fit issue.
I've had no problems thus far. Am I asking for trouble without it?
