I was planning on getting 255/40-17 Sumitomo HTR-Z III's for the S4 this summer, to be mounted on my 17x8 BBS wheels.  However, I just went to sumotomotire.com and the spec sheet says the "design rim width" is 8.5-10".  DOH!!  The wheels currently have 255/40-17 Firehawk SZ50's on them, don't know if that wheel width was approved or not, as they came on the wheels when I bought them.  So I assume that rules out that size HTRZ-III?   I suppose that means I should use the 245/40-17?  I was hoping to use the 255 partly because I assume wider tire on fixed wheel width = better ride quality.
