Is that an RS2 EM he just has lying around on his workbench?

This is not a DIY job for me. I'll take it to my local wrench.

no knowledge on that company.

But Jimmy Pribble is rebuilding his steering rack, he bought purchased a
rebuild kit for $135 from a dealer; the  beginging of his adventure is here:

Perhaps Jimmy will report in on how "easy" the rebuild went.
