Erik,
I just replaced my upper mounts 3 months ago, and they're already failing if not trashed. DON'T buy the cheap mounts. There was supposedly a revision made by Meyle but I don't know how you'd tell ahead of time thatyou were getting them.

I bought mine from FAP99.

Subject: [s-cars] Riding on bumpstops

Sooo.. trying to prepare my '94 S4 for a few track events this summer (hopefully).  Amongst other things, I am getting an allignement next week so today I took a look at my strut top mounts (the part that you move to adjust camber).  I removed them and noted two things: 1) the rubber is starting to crack around the metal bushing so I suppose I better replace them.  2)  My car rides on the front bumpstops while sitting with no occupants (mit Eibachs/Koni Sports installed by PO).  The bumpstops are about 4"/10cm long.

I seem to recall that the bumpstops should be trimmed when using lowering springs.  Is this correct?  If so, how much should I trim them and should I bother replacing the bumpstops with new parts?

Also, if they should be trimmed, would that also apply to the rear suspension (as I assume they were also not trimmed).  That would be a bit of a bummer, as they would be harder to get to.

Thanks,
Erik
