[s-cars] Window stopped working

if it's not one thing, it's another.

yesterday, the driver's side window began making ugly noises.  now it goes down, but makes noises and jams when going up.  if i hold the switch in the raise position continuously, it soon stops doing anything at all - probably an overload circuit.  i managed to get the window all the way up, but it's apparent that something is wrong with the mechanism.

i don't think this is a common problem here, as i don't recall seeing much discussion here, and didn't find much relevant on AW.  i got a lot of hits on window switches, relays, tint, etc. but not broken regulators.  any insight?

good thing i just got the AC recharged.
