[s-cars] How failtastic is the B7 S4 automatic? Anyone have a line on a manual avant?

Kinda sad (but in a way, a bit like timing our clutch footwork in a way, if
you really think about it (or try to justify it)) that you *have* to do the
foot timing for an autobox to get it to respond. FWIW, I didn't feel
anywhere near compelled to have to do that with the MB 7sp autobox in the
C350 I demo'd at it's intro event. As for the 5sp Tip in Mom's B4 Passat,
it's so slow that I don't bother with using Tip at all, so at least it
sounds like it's improving.
