More to the point, what alternator?  I think the parts counter would  
need that as
well, thus I doubt there is a universal solution for your problem.   
Now, if you
remove the old regulator and have them match the form of the regulator  
(i.e.,
the replacement looks exactly the same and bolts in place just like  
the original
with the brushes in the same place on the commutator) you will have a  
winner.
The electricity it controls can be german, chinese, indian, etc., it  
won't matter.
