I'm reminded of an article inside the back page of Autoweek, _way_ back (when it was a weekly _and_ a newspaper) about a guy that painted a Bricklin with a case (to insure color match and batch number) of rattle cans.
The writer reported that it was as good a paint job as he'd seen in some time. The secret was that he sprayed it and then?buffed and sanded the $%^&^ out of it until it was glass smooth.

I've heard of tip & roll but hadn't heard of the rustoleum trick for boats
which I know has been a relatively popular technique over last few years...
supposedly you thin the hell out of the first few coats so it's like water,
lay up anything between 5-10 coats and then buff it out.
