[s-cars] quick CPS question

We (the UrS community) have experienced all sorts of G40 cam position sensor(CPS) failure 
modes.  The most common is you get a Check Engine Light (CEL) and you eventually pull a 2113
 code (= CPS failure).  Sometimes you get lucky and the engine will restart after it cools off.
  Sometimes, if you have shut the engine off, you are done (the ECU needs the G40 signal before it 
fires the fuel pump relay).  In other cases (like Bob Myer), the G40 CPS gets flakey and strands you 
several times without throwing a code, making you crazy(er) and then finally you replace the CPS 
and everything is fine. All without a CPS code.
