[s-cars] pad wear indicator light on after brake job

I have had this happen to me recently on my 2001 S4 and I had it happen on
my '92 as well even when I short the plugs together by twisting the wires it
still indicates worn brakes. There is some weak point in the system design,
that has persisted for 10 years, that allows this to happen. I would love
to know where it is!

The cut that means you never have to worry about the wear indicator again :)

On my 92Ur-S
Had to splice old connectors onto new pads b/c new pads had wrong
connectors. Tried 2 different brands...PBRs from CarQuest (WorldPac) which
didn't even have threads in the holes for the retaining clips, and
eventually found one set @ Advance (Wagner/Federal Mogul) that at least had
threaded holes in the backing plates.
In splicing, I soldered the wires.
Bad idea? Don't see how it was as long as the circuit is continuous, but I
have the pad warning light.
Aside from cleaning connections @ the plug, anything I missed?
