[s-cars] Avant Tailgate Woes

Abe -

IME with the S6 as well at the 200TQA before it, a lot of rattles around the
hatch come from the plastic trim snap/clip fittings.

- If they are broken they'll obviously rattle.
- If someone has pulled trim and jammed it back / forced it in at an angle,
the plastic clips will get deformed, not fit, and rattle.
- Some trim can seem like it's snapped in but not be fully or properly
clipped, so then there are 2 or 3 clips not engaged... again rattling. If
the trim is snapped in properly, on these cars it really should be fairly
snug and tight. If it's not, some irritating annoying little clip is clearly
screwing with you in there and you need to figure out why...

When I just redid my (nasty evil despised) hatch wiring last week, I took
some time to check the clips and ensure all properly engaged and get a few
mutated-deformed ones to re-engage properly. It did wonders for few rattles
I had.

Other than that, I haven't had any problem with the actual latch gear itself
rattling, as long as everything is re-assembled and working properly.
