[s-cars] 2004 S4 servicing

The Tip gets better highway mileage than the 6sp. When sold new the Tip did
not incur a Gas Guzzler tax, the 6sp did. The Tip didn't perform as well
but it was much easier to drive. The 6-speed had a difficult 1st - 2nd
shift. The DBW sucked and it was difficult to match revs when shifting. I
must say I loved the car despite that fault.

I got 15 - 16 city and 19 - 20 hwy with my both my 2004 and 2005 6-speeds.

I just talked to a V8 S4 owner who gets 15mpg. His car is a Tiptronic, but
I wouldn't count on a 6-speed manual car to do any better (unless driven
very gently, but what's the point of that!?!)
