[s-cars] Tint Removal

Abe,

I had to remove front window tint from my wife's Saabaru when I brought it
to VT. I just used a steam cleaner to heat a corner of the tinted surface
and then used a plastic scraper to pull up both layers of tint on the
corner. Then, I just kept steaming and scraping. There was some adhesive
leftover, so I treated it with pine sap remover. I don't know whether it's
easier than ammonia, but it definitely smells better while you're doing it.
I'd say it took ~1hr per window.

Either that or maybe it's time to visit your dermatologist for a medical
exemption to the no tint requirement due to your fair skin. The DMV has a
form for that.
