Abe,

I just did this on a Mercedes. The heat gun works well to soften the  
adhesive. The film pulled off okay leaving a residue of adhesive that  
could only be removed with heat and a razor- that stuff does not wipe  
off or scrub off with anything. It takes time but no issues once I  
resigned myself to a lot of necessary delicate razor scraping.
A final clean up with your favorite goo release citric cleaner and  
you're good.
