Don't forget fuel pressure pressing against the rail, all the time,
though less, actually, at idle than with the engine off.
I ballparked it at just over 1 square inch of total surface area (I
couldn't find any specific info on injector diameter except an article
about building fuel rails which describes a .54" ID) so whatever fuel
pressure, that's how much force is against the rail. ~40 pounds when
off, 50+ when at full boost.
To put that into real-world perspective, because 50lb doesn't sound
like much...that's the equivalent of roughly 6 gallon containers of
milk/water.
